Bolantila, April 05: A serial theft took place in Bolantila in Puttur-Nekkiladi village on Thursday morning, with thieves breaking into four houses and stealing Rs 4.80 lakh in cash and jewellery.

At Azharuddin's house, the front door of the house was broken open and Rs 2.80 lakh was stolen. The family had gone to a relative's house for a program. The thieves also targeted Nawaz's rented house and stole Rs 2 lakh in cash and four grams of gold jewellery.

In another incident, the house of Puttur Taluk Panchayat employee Mohammad Siraj was robbed. The thieves broke open the cupboards and stole silver anklets and Rs 3,000 in cash. In addition, the old house of local gram panchayat member Ratnavati was also broken into, but no valuables were reported missing.

The thieves ate food from the refrigerator at the house of Mohammed Siraj and fled. The police are investigating. Fingerprint experts and a dog squad have been called to the scene.
