Lucknow: A 37-year-old woman and her 11-year-old son committed suicide by jumping from the 13th floor balcony of their apartment in Greater Noida's Ace City on Saturday morning, NDTV reported.

A woman named Sakshi Chawla, who was suffering from her son's chronic mental illness, jumped to her death along with her 11-year-old son (son Daksha) from the 13th floor. Police rushed to the spot after the incident and searched the house before sending the bodies for post-mortem.
A death note written by the deceased woman, Sakshi, to her husband was found. In it, it said, "We are leaving this world.. I am sorry... We do not want to bother you anymore. Your life should not be ruined because of us. No one is responsible for our death," the police said.
At the time of the incident, Sakshi's husband, Darpan Chawla, a chartered accountant, was inside the apartment, but was in another room. He reportedly heard a sudden scream around 10 am.
Police said it was a suicide. Sakshi's son, Daksha, was mentally ill and had been undergoing treatment for a long time. Due to this, he could not even go to school. He had to take excessive medication. Sakshi was very distressed due to this. She said that she used to share her troubles with her neighbours.
Yesterday at around 9 am, her husband, Darpan Chawla, had woken up his wife and asked her to give her son medicine. Sakshi had given him medicine and then taken her son to the balcony for a walk. Moments later, the two fell from the 13th floor. Police officials said that the tragedy has also shocked the neighbours.
