Mangaluru: In an effort to prevent crimes and to enforce traffic regulations under the Motor Vehicles Act, a special joint operation was conducted in the jurisdiction of the Mangalore City Police Commissioner on June 2 and June 3, 2025. The operation involved the Traffic Police and Law and Order Police Stations.

During the drive, a total of 223 cases were registered against vehicle owners/drivers who were found using black films (sun films) or tinted glasses on their vehicles. A fine of ₹1,11,500 was imposed. Additionally, tinted glasses and black film stickers were removed from the 223 vehicles, and appropriate action was taken. The vehicle owners were also educated about the rules.

Furthermore, on June 3, 2025, a meeting was held in the conference hall of the Police Commissioner’s office and at local police stations with the owners of car showrooms, accessories shops, garages, and sticker shops operating in the Mangalore City Commissioner limits. During the meeting, participants were instructed not to apply additional tints to vehicle glasses for customers, in accordance with the orders of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, which noted that tinted vehicles may be misused for criminal activities.

This special enforcement drive will continue in the coming days.
