The sanctioned works span across 6 taluks of the district: Mangalore, Moodabidri, Bantwal, Puttur, Belthangady, and Sullia: ensuring equitable distribution of health infrastructure. Each HWC has been allocated ₹65 lakh, covering new construction, CC block works, approach roads, and essential facilities. Of these, 9 projects fall under Mangalore taluk, 6 in Moodabidri, 8 in Bantwal, 7 in Puttur and Belthangady, and 8 in Sullia, reflecting a balanced approach toward strengthening the last-mile healthcare network.

“These new Health and Wellness Centres reaffirm our government’s commitment to bringing quality primary healthcare closer to every household in Dakshina Kannada,” said Captain Brijesh Chowta, MP from Dakshina Kannada.

Each centre will serve as a hub for preventive, promotive, and basic curative services, directly benefiting residents across Taluks.

“Health is the foundation of development. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, our aim is not just to build hospitals but to build healthier communities,” the MP added.

All works are currently in the tendered stage, and construction is expected to commence shortly after administrative clearances. Once completed, these 38 centres will mark a major milestone in transforming Dakshina Kannada’s health infrastructure landscape , strengthening primary healthcare delivery, emergency preparedness, and disease surveillance in line with the objectives of PM-ABHIM.
