Rafiq, a resident of Bazaar in Tekkaru village of Belthangady taluk, married Zeenat 18 years ago and the couple has two children. Rafiq, who was working abroad, had left his job and returned to the village after learning about his wife's illicit affair. Rafiq had built a house with the money he had earned abroad, but it was half-finished and he was living in the same house with his wife. While her husband was abroad, Zeenat had been having an affair with Arees, husband of the village panchayat president, for the past two years. Rafiq, who did not believe this, remained silent.
But this morning, Rafiq had gone to work. When he returned home after work, Zeenat was not at home. Worried about this, Rafiq went into the forest in search of her. There, the two were caught red-handed. Seeing Rafiq, Arees and Zeenat fled in an auto. Later, when Rafiq returned home, he stabbed Zeenat to death. Currently, the Uppinangady police have arrested the accused Rafiq in connection with the murder case.
