Assam, Sep 26: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the untimely death of renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg has arrested musician Shekhar Jyoti Goswami. Goswami was with Zubeen on the controversial yacht trip related to the case. Goswami has been detained for questioning. But the charges against him have not been disclosed yet or it is not clear what charges have been filed against him.

According to sources, the investigation is underway on several fronts, including a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding Garg's sudden death. Businessman and cultural activist Shyamakanu Mahanta has also been questioned by the SIT.

Several members of the Singapore Assam Association are also likely to be arrested on charges of irregularities related to the case. Officials have indicated that more arrests may be made as the investigation progresses. Earlier, SIT officials had raided Mahant's residence. But no details about the results of the raid have been released.

Meanwhile, the SIT team also raided the house of Zubin Garg's manager Siddharth Sharma. Meanwhile, the CID team camped outside his house for hours. Siddharth's family has been living at the place since 2019. The SIT has not revealed what was seized from the manager's house or what role he may have played in the singer's death.
