Puttur: In a significant move to bridge the gap between academic learning and career readiness, the Training and Placement Cell and the Anti-Women Harassment Cell of St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, hosted the “Mentor to Go” mentorship program on Thursday. The event, held at the SJM Hall, was organized in collaboration with the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports and the Department of Collegiate Education. The initiative aimed to equip students with the essential tools for personal growth, leadership, and professional excellence.


The program was presided over by Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of St Philomena College. In his presidential address, Dr Monteiro emphasized the transformative power of mentorship. He noted that effective guidance is the cornerstone of developing goal-oriented and socially responsible youth, and he lauded the joint efforts of the organizing cells in facilitating such a high-impact session.


The keynote speaker for the event was Shrikanth Poojary Biraw, Youth Empowerment and Sports Officer, Puttur and Youth Ambassador for the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Drawing from his extensive experience, Biraw delivered a motivating session focused on self-discipline, leadership, and the various government initiatives available to the youth. “Mentorship is not just about career advice; it is about shaping the character of proactive and socially responsible citizens,” Biraw remarked. He urged the student body to actively engage in community development and leverage institutional opportunities to achieve their aspirations.
The interactive nature of the session allowed students to seek direct guidance on career pathways and personal hurdles. Also present on the dais were the Vice Principal Dr Vijayakumar Moleyar, Noveline, Convener of the Anti-Women Harassment Cell, and Abhishek Suvarna, Convener of the Placement Cell.
The session was inaugurated with a formal invocation, followed by a warm welcome address by Dhanusha of III B.Sc. Anagha S. Rai introduced the resource person. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Priyanka of III B. Com and the proceedings were compered by Kanees Fathima of III B.A.
