Not only in India, Nipah virus is increasing rapidly in Asia. The number of Nipah virus cases has increased in West Bengal and Kerala. As a result, the states of West Bengal and Kerala have been declared endemic zones. Due to the increasing number of Nipah virus infections in many Asian countries, screening has started at airports.

110 people quarantined
In the backdrop of the increasing number of Nipah virus cases in West Bengal, strict measures have been implemented. Strict instructions have been given to hospitals. The governments of the two states have issued guidelines to health centers. They have been instructed to identify and quarantine those infected with Nipah virus. 110 people have already been quarantined in India. More than 200 people have been screened.




This virus, which is transmitted from animals to humans, is called a zoonotic virus. The mortality rate of those infected with the virus is 40 to 70 percent. Nipah is a deadlier virus than Corona. The rate of spread of Corona is very fast. There is already a vaccine for Corona. But there is no vaccine for Nipah virus. Vaccines do not work. Only limited medicines can cure it. Thus, doctors have advised that it is necessary to be very careful. It was first seen among health workers and staff in West Bengal. Later, it was also found in Kerala.
How is Nipah virus transmitted?
Nipah virus is mostly spread by bats and pigs. Nipah virus spreads through close contact with these animals, as bats eat fruits and vegetables that have been bitten. Therefore, it is essential to take great care when eating fruits, vegetables and meat.
What are the initial symptoms?
Those infected with Nipah virus will initially have a fever. Along with fever, symptoms of headache and vomiting will appear. At the same time, pneumonia is also likely to appear. Respiratory problems, brain infections and other serious problems will appear.
17 people died of Nipah virus in Kerala in 2018
The Nipah virus has been a concern in the world since 1998. Since 1998, many people have died of Nipah virus. More than 100 people have died of Nipah virus in Malaysia and more than 100 people in Bangladesh. In 2018, before Corona, Nipah virus created concern in Kerala. 19 people were hospitalized with Nipah virus. Of these, 17 have died.
