Dharwad, March 25: The murder case of a former MLA’s son in the district has taken a major turn, and suspicions that the incident was a premeditated murder have deepened.

The body of Raju Bolshetty (53), son of former MLA Baburao Bolshetty of Belagavi district’s Bailahongala constituency, was found completely burnt inside a car in the Ramapur forest area of Dharwad taluk on Tuesday. The police have arrested three accused in this case.
Raju’s body, charred beyond recognition, was found in a dense forest area next to the railway track in Ramapur village of Dharwad taluk. This incident created a huge stir across the district, and there was a strong suspicion that it was a premeditated murder. The Dharwad Rural Police have revealed explosive information in a lightning operation, and it is said that the murder took place in the backdrop of the deceased’s immoral relationship.
Raju Bolshetty, who had an illicit relationship with a woman, used to give her money when she had physical contact. Raju, who used to give money to the woman in the form of a loan, had given her more than Rs. 2 lakh. There was a rift between the woman and Raju over this issue. Yesterday too, he had called the woman to the field for physical contact. It is learnt that the woman, her son and her lover had committed this act together.
Accused who burnt the body along with the car
The three who brought Raju Bolshetty’s body to the Ramapur forest in his car, put the body in the back seat, poured 10 liters of petrol they had brought and set the car on fire. It is said that all three accused fled after the incident and all three were arrested within a few hours due to a quick operation by the police.
