Patna, Feb 18: Following its earlier order banning meat sale near religious places, the Bihar government has now moved to further restrict open meat sale.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, who holds the Revenue and Land Reforms department, said that only licensed vendors will be allowed to sell meat across the state.
“The government is formulating new rules regarding meat sale and it will be strictly enforced. Open meat sale will not be allowed under any circumstances. Only those with proper licenses will be allowed to sell meat,” Sinha told the media.
He also warned of strict action against those who violate the new rules.
In March last year, the Uttar Pradesh government had banned the sale of meat within 500 metres around religious places. All district collectors have been directed to strictly implement this order.
