Twenty-seven people were injured, including two with serious injuries and 25 with non-life-threatening injuries, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said in a statement.

A shooter was involved in the incident at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in the province of British Columbia. The shooter, who is believed to have been shot, was seriously injured, police said. As part of the initial response to the shooting, police entered the school to investigate the threat. During the search, officers located several people, the RCMP said in a statement.

Six additional people, in addition to the suspect, were found dead inside the school. Two died on the way to the hospital. Canadian media reported that the shooter was a woman, but the RCMP statement did not provide any details about the suspect.
