Bengaluru: The government has taken a bold step to curb corruption in government offices in the state. It has instructed to install ‘Don’t pay bribe’ signs in all government offices.

Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh has given an instruction in this regard, saying in the instruction that this step is being taken to prevent the problem of bribery in government offices and increase transparency.
It has been instructed that the installation of ‘Don’t pay bribe’ signs in all government offices in the state is mandatory, and the instructions have been given that the signboard should display information on what to do if any government employee asks for a bribe, as well as the Lokayukta’s helpline number.
It has been instructed that the signboard should have the message “Don’t pay bribe. If anyone in this office asks for a bribe or has information about corruption, they can complain to the concerned officers or the Karnataka Lokayukta.”
As per the recommendations of the Karnataka Administrative Reforms Committee-2, the government has taken steps to bring transparency in offices by putting up anti-corruption messages in Kannada and English.
Meanwhile, it has been advised that all department heads, secretaries and additional chief secretaries should put up another signboard in their offices containing complete details including telephone number, address, email of the Lokayukta head office and district offices.
It has been informed that this rule is applicable to all government offices, boards, corporations and aided institutions.
