Koppala Feb. 13: The number of wild animals in the district is increasing day by day, and the public is living in fear. While there are series of leopard attacks on one side, on the other, bears entering populated areas has alarmed the people of the district.

Leopard seen in Huliapur Tanda, wild boar killed
The sighting of a leopard in Huliapur Tanda of Kushtagi taluk has created fear among the villagers. On the outskirts of the village, a leopard attacked a wild boar and ate it. After seeing the bloody traces, the villagers are afraid to come out of their houses. It has been confirmed that the number of leopards in this area has increased as a leopard was also seen near Sanapur in Gangavati taluk just last week.
In the wake of the leopard menace, forest department officials have launched an operation. Officials who are creating awareness among the people of Menedala, Hiremannapur and Huliapur Tanda in Kushtagi taluk have warned them not to roam alone at night. They have appealed to them not to let small children out of the house and to give top priority to the protection of livestock.
Amidst the leopard scare, a bear has been sighted in Hosagudda village in Kanakagiri taluk. The bear entered the village last night in search of food, leaving the people shocked. It is being analyzed that the wild animals are heading towards the country due to the scarcity of food and water in the forests.
Fear has taken hold among the farmers
Farmers are hesitant to go to their fields due to the increasing number of wild animals across the district. It is possible that the animals are hiding in open wells and areas with scrub forests. The villagers have demanded that the Forest Department immediately set traps and capture the leopard and bear and save them from distress.
