Luxury facilities continue in Parappana Agrahara Jail – Prisoners make serious allegations against a senior officer

Bengaluru, March 30: Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Jail is in the news again. A video showing luxury facilities like mobile, TV and Netflix inside the jail has gone viral on social media and is the subject of intense discussion.

In the viral video, some undertrial prisoners in the jail are seen filming a video and saying, “There is an IPL match tomorrow, this time the cup is ours,” and also saying that there are mobile, TV and Netflix facilities inside the jail. They have also alleged that this mobile phone was brought by a senior IPS officer.

As the video went viral, the jail authorities, alerted, conducted a thorough search of the barracks where the accused were kept.

In this case, the mobile phones that the accused had hidden in the toilet water pipe by wrapping them in plastic covers, away from the eyes of the prison authorities, were found.

Now, these mobile phones have been seized and the prison authorities have registered a case in this regard.

Meanwhile, DGP Alok Kumar, who was deeply upset after the video went viral, has ordered the suspension of three prison staff.

Sources have revealed that Shivanand Karlabatti, Niranjan.A Kamath and Hanumanthappa Hadapada, who were in charge of the barracks where the accused prisoners were, have been suspended.

Currently, a complaint has been filed at the Parappana Agrahara police station against three prisoners named Darshan, Abhi and Andros in this case.

As a precautionary measure, all three have been shifted to the quarantine cell of the prison and the authorities are conducting further interrogation. Prison officials have warned that strict action will be taken against those who indulge in such hooliganism to maintain prison discipline.
