Somalia, Feb. 11: A passenger plane carrying 55 people has reportedly skidded off the runway and landed on a beach at Somalia’s main airport. The incident occurred after the plane developed a technical problem shortly after takeoff during an emergency landing at Aden Abdulle International Airport in Mogadishu.

No one was injured. The plane, operated by Starsky Aviation, was carrying 50 passengers and five crew members. The airline’s CEO, Ahmed Noor, confirmed that everyone had been evacuated safely. The plane skidded off the runway and came to rest near the shore of the Indian Ocean.
The plane was en route to the northern city of Galkayo. About 15 minutes after takeoff, the crew reported a technical problem and decided to return for an emergency landing. During the landing attempt, the plane skidded off the runway and headed toward the shore.
Rescue teams responded quickly, ensuring that everyone on board was rescued, Transport Minister Mohamed Farah Nuh said. Although the plane was damaged, no passengers or crew were hurt.
