Mangaluru: The Department of Hindi and Hindi Sangha of the School of Language and Cultural studies of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) organized the Hindi cultural festival PRERANA – 2026 on the theme ‘Desikalakar’ on February 18, 2026 in the campus.
The event began with a grand Inauguration ceremony honoured by the presence of Chief Guest, Prit Kamani, the Bollywood star and Guest of Honour, Dr Mukunda Prabhu, former HOD of Hindi, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University). The Program President, Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Praveen Martis, SJ, brought wisdom and guidance. Other important guests included Staff Coordinators, Roicy Rekha Braggs & Dr Sandhya U Sirsikar, Assistant Coordinator Dr MA Nadaf and Student Coordinators Rafan & Trisha.
During the programme, the Department of Hindi also released the ‘PRERANA’ magazine, featuring creative and literary works by students and faculty.
More than 178 students from 18 colleges and universities participated in seven exciting events, making the fest a lively and colourful celebration of talent.
The Valedictory ceremony was graced by MA Gafoor, State Minister, Chairman, Karnataka State Coastal Development Authority as the Chief Guest and Sweeten Hartman, Actor & Musician as the guest of honour. The winners were awarded with trophies and overall championship was won by SDM Ujire and Runners Up by Canara College, Mangaluru.
