US attacks Iranian plane bound for India to receive relief supplies

Tehran: Tensions are rising in West Asia. On the one hand, US President Donald Trump is claiming to hold talks with Iran. Meanwhile, an Iranian plane has been damaged in the US attack. The plane was supposed to fly to Delhi.

A Mahan Air plane was damaged in a US airstrike at Iran’s Mashhad airport. According to reports, the plane was going to New Delhi to receive relief supplies. The plane was supposed to arrive at 4 am on April 1.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of civil aviation in the country. Mahan Air is a privately owned Iranian airline that operates flights to several countries in West Asia, Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia and East Asia.

At the beginning of the war, Israeli strikes destroyed around 16-17 passenger and cargo planes at Mehrabad airport. Israel claims that these planes belong to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and were used by the Quds Force to transport weapons to terrorists.

Israel has said that commercial planes such as Iran Air and Mahan Air were used to transport weapons to Russia for the war in Ukraine. The cargo was supposed to carry 11 tons of humanitarian aid, including medicines, from India to Iran.

Indian planes had not been used in previous shipments either. The plane was bound for Delhi and was supposed to return to Iran carrying more than 11 tons of humanitarian medicines for war victims.
