Allipade: St. Antony English Medium School, Allipade, celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm, pride, and a deep sense of patriotism. The grand celebration brought together students, staff, dignitaries, and members of the local community in a united tribute to the nation's freedom.

The event was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including Rev. Fr. Robert D’Souza, the Correspondent; Naveen Moras, Vice President; Kiran Noronha, Secretary of the Church; SDMC President Purushottama; Vincent Pinto, Grama Panchayat Member; Sr. Lavina Veigas, Headmistress of St. Antony English Medium School; Monthi Christine, Headmistress of St. John’s Higher Primary School; ward Gurkars, and members of the school management committee.

The programme began with a soulful prayer song, invoking blessings for the nation. Floral tributes were offered to the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, honouring their invaluable contributions to India’s freedom and democratic foundations.

The National Flag was unfurled by Rev. Fr. Robert D’Souza, escorted by student leader Disha, in the presence of all dignitaries. This was followed by the singing of Vande Mataram and the National Anthem by the students, which evoked a strong sense of national pride. The school choir further uplifted the spirit with a heartfelt rendition of Jhanda Uncha Rahe Hamara.

Fathima Bashila of Class 7 delivered a powerful speech on the significance of Independence Day, reflecting on the sacrifices of freedom fighters and the responsibilities of citizens. Rev. Fr. Robert D’Souza, who presided over the function, addressed the gathering and stressed the values of unity, discipline, and responsibility among students — the future of the nation.

A formal proclamation was made by student Kushanth R. Shetty, adding a dignified and inspiring touch to the event. Sowmya, a teacher at St. John’s Primary School, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the celebration.

The programme was compered smoothly and gracefully by Sareena and Deepika. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, parents, and members of Allipade Church, who together expressed their love and reverence for the nation on this proud occasion.

The celebration concluded on a joyful note, with sweets distributed to all attendees, leaving everyone with a sense of pride and unity.
