Chennai: A complaint has been filed in the Chennai Police Commissioner's Office against actor-politician Vijay for allegedly insulting the religious sentiments of Muslims and insulting them during an Iftar party.

Tamil film actor Vijay recently hosted an Iftar party at the YMCA grounds in Rayapetta, Chennai. This was highly appreciated. But the Iftar party has now become a source of controversy. Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamaat filed a complaint in this regard. It has expressed displeasure that drunkards and rowdies who are not related to religious rituals have participated in the Iftar party. This disrespects the sanctity of the occasion, the complaint said.

Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamaat Treasurer Syed Kaus reacted to this and said that the Iftar party was not properly arranged. Iftar party is organized against real wish. People who had nothing to do with fasting or iftar were present, which was an insult to the community. Vijay's foreign guards treated those present with disrespect. So the authorities demanded legal action against Vijay.

Last year, Vijay officially launched his political party, Tamilaga Vetri Kalagam (TVK). He is preparing to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections.
