Bangalore: Renowned art historian Rajani Prasanna inaugurated the art exhibition ‘Transposing Experiences’ at the Bangalore International Centre (BIC) in Domlur, Bangalore, on Saturday, February 3, 2024. The event witnessed the presence of other distinguished guests, including Dr. Pratibha Karanth, a speech-language pathologist, Dr. Ullas Karanth, a conservation zoologist, and Mr. Prasanna. The exhibition, organised by Art Kanara Trust, showcases a diverse array of artworks, including paintings, sculptures, photographs, and installations by 17 artists with roots in coastal Karnataka.
In her opening remarks, Rajani Prasanna emphasised the significance of nurturing coastal artists. "The talent of young contemporary artists from coastal Karnataka should be identified, and they should be brought onto the popular cultural map to encourage them to continue creating unique works of art," she stated. The guests also paid tribute to the contributions of renowned artists K. K. Hebbar and Shivaram Karanth, who hailed from coastal Karnataka. Subhas Chandra Basu of the Art Kanara Trust anchored the programme.
The participating artists include Harish Kodialbail, Janardhan Havanje, Jayavanth Shettigar, Jeevan Salian, Nemiraj Shetty, Permude Mohan Kumar, Praveen Punchithaya, Rajendra Kedige, Ramakrishna Nayak, Reshma S. Shetty, Santhosh Andrade, Santhosh Pai, Shilpa Bhat, Umesh V.M. Venki Palimar, Vishwas M., and Wilson Souza.
The exhibition was opened on February 3rd and 4th from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the gallery space in the Bangalore International Centre, located at 7/4th Main Road, Stage 2, Domlur.
