Guwahati, June 11: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that drugs worth Rs 45 crore have been successfully seized in a series of anti-drug operations conducted by the state police.

The seizure took place in Cachar district and four people were arrested on Monday on charges of drug trafficking.

CM Sharma on Monday lauded the efforts of the Cachar police, who seized a total of 1.5 lakh Yaba tablets in two consecutive raids conducted based on reliable intelligence inputs, in a post on social media platform X.

The operations led to the arrest of four persons involved in drug smuggling rackets, which officials said would help in dismantling a large drug network operating in the area.

It reiterated the state government's commitment to curb drug abuse and protect the youth of Assam.

Earlier, security forces in Manipur and Mizoram had seized drugs worth over Rs 5.7 crore.
