Australia:  Australian star player Glenn Maxwell has announced his sudden retirement from ODI cricket. Maxwell has taken this decision as it is certain that he will not get a place in the 2027 ODI World Cup squad. However, he has said that he will continue in T20 cricket.

Glenn Maxwell, who has played 149 ODI matches for Australia so far, has batted in 136 innings. During this time, he has faced 3149 balls and scored a total of 3990 runs. He has also bowled in 119 innings and has taken a total of 77 wickets.

I had discussed the 2027 ODI World Cup with the Australian team's chief selector George Bailey. He does not think that he will continue in the team until 2027. So, it is the right time to choose someone else to replace me. Maxwell said that he has announced his retirement for this reason.
