BANGALORE, June 17: Congress has announced its candidates for the Karnataka Legislative Assembly (upper house) elections.

The AICC's list has been announced today (Wednesday) by finalizing the ticket for BK Hariprasad and Nasir Ahmed. The State Congress had forwarded a list of 4 names for the two seats to the high command.

And finally, after hearing the opinion of some senior leaders of the state, the High Command finally agreed to BK Hariprasad and another time Nasir Ahmed.

Nasir Ahmad's name came to the fore in the minority castle of the four names sent to the High Command.

It was against this expectation that they could get tickets. BK Hariprasad's name has come as a surprise to the leaders of the state Congress.

BJP's Tejasvi Surya wins BKP seat from Bangalore South in 2019 Lok Sabha polls Hariprasad was defeated. Hariprasad was formerly a Rajya Sabha member.

Thursday (June 18) is the last day for filing of nominations, and on June 29, seven seats will be elected to the Legislative Assembly by the Legislative Assembly.

The BJP and the JDS are still heavily contested in terms of candidate selection. The Congress could win 2, BJP 4 and JDS 1 seats on the legislative strength.
