Shivamogga, June 16:  Actor-director Rishabh Shetty and 30 crew members escaped danger after a boat capsized in a reservoir during the shooting of Kantara: Chapter 1, police sources said.

The incident took place during the shooting at Mani reservoir in Masti Katte area of Shivamogga district, they said. The accident occurred in the shallow area of the reservoir near the area locally known as Mela Koppa, which helped avert a possible tragedy.

However, cameras and other filming equipment fell into the water. According to the Thirthahalli police, who visited the spot, the people on the boat escaped danger. The police are investigating.

Theatre artist Ramdas Poojary said that making a film about the spirits of Dakshina Kannada is always risky because the spirits do not like commercialization of any activity related to them. However, the priest said that Rishab Shetty, who worships the deities, has performed elaborate pujas for them and has been given permission to make a film.

Some of the crew members panicked when the boat capsized, but since it was in shallow water, they all walked away safely.
