Mangaluru: St Aloysius Pre-University College celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm and a strong commitment to environmental awareness on 5 June 2025. The event coincided with the inauguration of the Centre for Environmental Concern (CEC), aimed at fostering ecological awareness among students.

The chief guest, Niren Jain, Co-convenor of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH – Mangalore Chapter), was warmly welcomed with a symbolic gesture. Pramila Patrao presented him with a sapling, symbolizing the college's dedication to environmental conservation.

Jain delivered an engaging session titled "Saving Species: Cutting Through Environmental Delusions," emphasizing biodiversity conservation and dispelling common myths hindering environmental action. His address inspired students to think critically and take responsible actions in tackling ecological challenges.

During the ceremony, the Centre for Environmental Concern (CEC) was officially inaugurated by the chief guest, who highlighted the theme of 'Beat Plastic Pollution,' aligning with the global focus of the year and the college's commitment to reducing plastic waste.

In a symbolic gesture, CEC members took an oath to actively contribute to environmental conservation and pledged to consider their environmental impact in their daily lives.

The program concluded with Nimmy Alex delivering a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the organizing team, the guest speaker, faculty members, and students for their contributions to the event's success. The celebration underscored the importance of collective efforts in safeguarding the environment and building a sustainable future.
