New Delhi: Open AI has announced that it will be offering ChatGPT Go free for one year to all Indian users who sign up during a limited-time promotional period starting November 4.

ChatGPT Go is Open AI’s recently launched subscription tier that offers increased message limits, image production and file uploads to users in India, a market that makes ChatGPT its second largest and fastest-growing.

Open AI’s Dave Day Exchange event, which will be held in Bengaluru on November 4, is the first of its kind in India. ChatGPT is making ChatGPT Go free for a full year to all users in India who sign up during a limited-time promotional period starting November 4, the company said.

ChatGPT Go was launched in India in August, designed in response to user feedback requesting more affordable access to the most advanced features. In the first month of launch, the number of paid subscribers in India doubled.

In the wake of this strong demand, Open AI has since expanded ChatGPT Go to nearly 90 markets worldwide. Millions of people in India use ChatGPT every day, including a rapidly growing community of developers, students, and professionals who are leveraging Open AI’s advanced tools.

The campaign is a continuation of Open AI’s India First commitment and supports the India AI mission, strengthening the growing momentum around AI in India as the country prepares to host the Impact Summit next year, Open AI said in a statement.

Existing ChatGPT Go subscribers in India are eligible for a 12-month free trial. “Since launching ChatGPT Go in India a few months ago, the adoption and creativity we’ve seen from our users has been inspiring,” said Nick Turley, Vice President and Head of Chat GPT.

Ahead of our first Day Day Exchange event in India, we’re making ChatGPT Go available for free for a year to help more people across India easily access and benefit from the improved service.
