Chikkamagaluru, May 28:  As heavy rains continue across the country, the police have clamped down on the tourists' riots at the Charmadi Ghat in Mudigere taluk. As a video of tourists on the sliding rocks went viral, District Police Chief Vikram Amute sent police to the spot and registered a case against the tourists.

Police have been deployed near the Ghat. Due to the continuous flow of water on the rocks, green algae forms and the rocks slide. If tourists try to climb on such rocks and perform riots, there is a big danger. Realizing this, the district administration is taking strict action.

With the increase in the number of tourists visiting the waterfalls near Alekan Horatti and the Annappaswamy temple in Charmadi Ghat, roadside food stalls have also been opened. To prevent this, the district administration has deployed police to ensure smooth traffic.

The police have registered a case against four youths who were standing on a rock in the Charmadi Ghat area and were taking photos. There is a fear of landslides on the way to Bababudan Giri. Last year, during the monsoon season, a landslide occurred near Kavikal Gandi on the road connecting to Datta Peetha, so tourists were banned from Datta Peetha for a month. However, this time, there is a fear of landslides on the Datta Peetha road even before the start of the monsoon season.

Continuous rains are falling in the Chandradrona mountain range, and the soil of the Giri range is loosening. There is a possibility of a massive landslide during the monsoon season. Locals have urged the district administration to take necessary precautionary measures before a landslide occurs.
