New Delhi, Dec 12: The Coast Guard has seized a Pakistani boat that entered Indian waters and arrested 11 crew members on board. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has seized a Pakistani boat for illegal fishing in Indian waters, officials said.

The arrested persons have been handed over to the Jakhow Marine Police in Gujarat for further investigation, officials said. Gujarat Defence PRO Wing Commander Abhishek Kumar Tiwari, in a post on Instagram, said that the Indian Coast Guard acted swiftly on Wednesday and seized a Pakistani fishing boat with 11 crew members inside India's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

He said that this action underlines the country's commitment to secure its borders by maintaining continuous maritime operations of the Coast Guard and by firmly enforcing international law in India's maritime zones (MZI). He further said that constant vigilance in India's maritime domain remains the cornerstone of our national maritime security strategy.

The release on ICG X said that the Indian Coast Guard has intercepted and arrested a Pakistani fishing boat and its 11 crew members for illegal fishing in Indian waters. This decisive action demonstrates the unwavering vigilance of the Indian Coast Guard and India's resolve to protect its maritime borders and uphold international maritime law in the Central Sea Zone. It said that continuous surveillance and proactive operations are the foundation of our maritime security strategy.
