Mangalore:- Dakshina Kannada reported 83 new cases of novel coronavirus, while Udupi reported 28 fresh cases on Tuesday July 7.

A total of 1,359 are positive till date. Out of these, 650 cases are currently active. 

Of the 83 who tested positive on Tuesday, 59 are males and 24 females, including 5 children. Among the 75 new patients, tow have returned from Chikkamagaluru, 20 are diagnosed with influenza-like illness (ILI), one is diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) and 50 are primary and secondary contacts of earlier patients. Contact tracing process of three patients is on, three are random samples, three pre-surgery samples and three pre-surgery samples before delivery.

Udupi:- As many as 1,390 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 28 on Tuesday. As many as 1,182 patients have been discharged so far including 28 on Tuesday, and 205 cases are currently active. Three deaths have occurred so far. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada .

Among the new cases, 28 are primary contacts, two each have travel history to Maharashtra and Mangaluru, four have travelled from Bengaluru, one each from Tumakuru and Dubai, and 12 are contacts of earlier patients, and contact tracing of six is under process.

 As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,875 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, and a total of 4,875 have completed 14 days of quarantine. As many as 1,170 persons are currently in home quarantine.
