Mangalore:  The Diocese of Mangalore under the leadership of the Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha has planned to construct houses for the poor. The plan ‘Moga Na’llo’ Donate a Tile with a Smile is evolved to strengthen the charitable works of CODP a Diocesan NGO to place a roof over the poor families. The donation plan as a movement of donors of small capacity reaching to big numbers was launched by Bishop Most Rev Dr Peter Paul at Bishops house on 20th Feb 2024 at 5:30 PM.

The plan ‘Moga Na’llo’ was designed by Louie Pinto along with the Diocesan housing committee. The plan was launched in the presence of the Educare advisor Mr Stephen Pinto,  John Dsilva, Secretary Diocesan Pastoral Parishad, in company with Fr. Vincent Dsouza, Secretary CODP and the other dignitaries of the Diocese . The donation movement is supported by media partners Daijiworld, Canara Communications Centre and others.

CODP a non-profit social service organ of the Diocese of Mangalore has been spending lakhs of rupees on charity over the past 50 years. To mark the Golden Jubilee of its existence (1974-2024) this yearit has already constructed 30 new houses and repaired 50 houses to the tune of 1.85 crores. The Diocese of Mangalore conducts this charitable service through donations of various donors especially Michael Dsouza as the substantial donor.

The aim is to construct 100 houses for the poor families of the Diocese who are socio economically backward. The parish team plans a house of 700- 800 square feet. The cost is fixed at 8 lakhs. The Diocese under CODP grants 50% of the cost in 4 instalments. The donations campaign is launched in order to cover the cost of expenses for the remaining houses for the Poor.
