Mangaluru: There is a vast body of literature in the Tulu language. The Academy has given students an opportunity to familiarize themselves with these literary works. Through this initiative, the Academy is inspiring students to develop a reading habit, said senior journalist Chidambara Baikampady.

He was speaking after inaugurating the “Academy Ondji Dina Bale Tulu Odvaga” (One Day with Tulu Reading) program organized by the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy for the students of Sri Gokarnanatheshwara College, Mangaluru.

Vasanth Karanduru, Director of Sri Gokarnanatheshwara Educational Institutions, said that students should make the best use of this opportunity provided by the Academy.

Academy President Taranath Gatti Kapikad said that reading Tulu books is essential to understand Tulu life. In this regard, the Academy has books about Tulu in several languages including Kannada, English, Malayalam, and Hindi  so that even non-Tulu speakers can experience the essence of Tulu land and culture.

College Administrator Nagesh Karkera and Principal Dr. Jayaprakash conveyed their best wishes.

Librarian Divya S., student Sri Divya, and lecturers Vasanth and Supraja were present.

Academy member Babu Koraga Pangala compered the program, Registrar Poornima welcomed the gathering, and student Sumith proposed the vote of thanks.
