Mangalore, May 15: The appointment of a former rowdy sheeter as chairman of the Kukke Subramanya Temple Board, one of the richest temples in the state, has been the subject of widespread debate. Despite strong opposition from local villagers, the state government has appointed Congress activist Harish Injadi.

Harish Injadi had earlier cheated the temple board by issuing fake checks and getting fruit and nut tenders. He was also arrested for this. He was also involved in tree smuggling and sand mafia. The villagers had written a letter to Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy requesting that such a person should not be appointed to the board of the holy temple.

But beyond that, it is alleged that the Muzrai Department has appointed Harish Injadi to the Kukke Subrahmanya Administrative Board based on the recommendations of District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao and Legislative Council member Manjunath Bhandari.

The BJP has expressed strong opposition to the appointment of Harish Injadi. Earlier, Home Minister Parameshwar, who visited Mangaluru when Suhas Shetty was murdered, had returned saying that he would not visit the house of District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, a rowdy sheeter.

Now, there has been intense outrage on social media that the same rowdy sheeter has been appointed as the chairman of the holy temple's administrative board. Campaigns are being run on social media to immediately remove Harish Injadi from the post of chairman.
