Mangalore: A teacher's understanding should be constantly expanding. In this modern era of science and technology, the responsibility of the teacher has also increased. He should respect science and build the next race without leaving the heritage, said Hampi Kannada University retired vice chancellor Prof BA Vivek Rai.

Addressing the gathering, after inaugurating the Teacher's Day program held at Mangala Auditorium of Mangalore University here on Monday, he said that the future of education will be a fusion of heritage and scientific discoveries. We have to adequately utilize the opportunities of new technology of education, he said. On this occasion, he said that he will donate about 2500 books in his collection to the Mangalore Universitylibrary.

Presiding over the event, Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof. P. Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya said that a good teacher lives as a role model for students. He will be a source of inspiration for them. On the occasion, Prof P. S Yadapadithaya, who was recently honouredas the ``Best Vice Chancellor- 2022'', was felicitated. 

Mangalore University Finance Officer Prof. Jayappa was present.  Registrar Dr. Kishore Kumar CK welcomed the gathering. Convenor Prof. Manjunatha Pattabhi extended vote of thanks. Dr. Dhananjaya Kumble and Dr. Preeti Keerthi D'Souza mastered the ceremony.
