Mangalore: Good Friday is a Christian holy day commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ at Calvary, the divine mercy and the redemption of all people. It is observed during Holy Week as part of the Paschal Triduumon the Friday preceding Easter Sunday, and may coincide with the Jewish observance of Passover.
It is also known as Holy Friday, Great Friday. Good Frriday evening Vigilance was observed today at Milagrese church Mangalore. Rev Fr Michael Santhumayor offered the mass. During the prayer service priest prayed for various intensions.
In his sermon addressing the people Rev Fr Valerian Said " Todays event which has happened 2000 years ago which is celebrated across the world. Before Jesus death cross of the symbol of ugliness. Only thieves and murders used to get their death penalty at the cross, but Jesus bought new meaning to this cross. He transformed the symbol of ugliness to symbol of salvation, sacrifice and love.
