Mysore, May 9: The High Court has issued stay order on the order issued by Deputy Commissioner Laxmikant Reddy to allow a madrasa to be built on the disputed land in Kyathamaranahalli, Mysore.
The High Court has stayed the order issued by the District Collector allowing a madrasa to be built on the disputed land in Kyathamaranahalli and has instructed the District Collector to maintain the status quo.
Sharing information on this, Advocate A.M. Bhaskar said that there has already been a murder over the disputed land. Also, there is opposition from the locals to build a madrasa. The disputed land is a residential area, and DC Laxmikant Reddy had given permission to open a nursery Arabic school there. He said that the High Court has now granted an interim stay on the DC's order.
Kyathamaranahalli villagers share their joy:
The villagers of Kyathamaranahalli are divided, as the High Court has stayed the Madrasa from being built on the disputed land and instructed them to maintain the status quo. This is a first-stage victory for us. No madrasa should be opened there for any reason. It is already a sensitive area. We respect and abide by the court order. We have lawyers for whatever happens next. We will continue the legal fight, he said.
