Bengaluru, March 6: Speaker UT Khader has instructed the authorities to arrest and take legal action against those responsible for misusing nutritional food kits intended for children and Anganwadi centers.
On Wednesday, BJP member Mahesh Tenginakai raised a concern in the Legislative Assembly about an attempt to sell the nutritious food kits meant for children and families in various Anganwadi centers in Hubballi city. He called for authorities to track down the culprits and take legal action.
In response, Speaker UT Khader intervened and addressed the issue on behalf of Lakshmi Hebballar, Minister of Women and Child Development, and Minister Priyank Kharge, who was also replying to the notice.
The government has a zero-tolerance policy regarding the misuse of these nutritional food kits, Minister Priyank Kharge emphasized. He assured that an investigation would be launched, and if any related documents were made available to the BJP members, they would be duly examined.
Minister Kharge further stated that 36 individuals had already been arrested in connection with the case. However, Mahesh Tenginakai objected, claiming that only 32 arrests had been made, not 36 as stated by Kharge.
