Nimisha Priya case :
Nimisha Priya had gone to Yemen in 2008. After working in several hospitals, she finally opened her clinic and in 2014, she approached Talal Abdo Mahdi, who is a local resident in Yemen, to start a business in partnership.
The Kerala nurse had a disagreement with Mahdi and filed a complaint against him, after which he was arrested in 2016 but was later released from prison and allegedly continued to threaten her.
Nimisha's family claimed that Mahdi had been given a sedative injection. However, her death was due to an overdose. Nimisha was arrested while trying to flee the country after the incident and charged with murder in 2018.
A trial court found her guilty of killing a Yemeni national. This decision was upheld by the country's Supreme Judicial Council in November 2023.
