New Delhi: An arrest warrant has been issued in Canada against an Indian-origin man after a 27-year-old Indian-origin woman was killed in Canada last week.

Police are seeking 27-year-old Manpreet Singh, a resident of Brampton, in connection with the murder of Punjabi woman Amanpreet Saini. Saini's body was found in Lincoln Park on October 21, police said.

"Singh fled the country within days of Amanpreet's body being found, "the Niagara Regional Police Service said in an official statement.

There was no public disturbance during the attack on the woman. Police have released a sketch of Singh, and they should call 911 immediately," the police said. Singh's family has fled Punjab to India, sources told NDTV.

Canadian security agencies have now contacted Indian agencies to arrest him, sources said. Saini, originally from Sangrur district of Punjab, had reportedly been living in Toronto for the past few years.
