Loretto, June 19: The Investiture Ceremony of the Student Council for the academic year 2025–26 was held at Loretto English Medium High School with dignity and pride. This formal event marked the official investiture of leadership to the newly elected student representatives, empowering them to lead by example.

The event was graced by the presence of Manager Rev. Fr. Francis Crasta, Chief Guest Lt Col Gracian Sequeria Rtd Ex Commanding Officer of KarBn NCC, Mangalore, Principal Rev. Fr. Jason Vijay Monis, Vice Principal Anitha Pais, and PTA Vice President Sachin Noronha, who added significance to the occasion with their presence.

The event began with a solemn prayer song by the school choir, creating a spiritual ambiance. The programme was inaugurated by lighting the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries on the dais symbolizing the light of knowledge and leadership.

The announcement of the newly elected cabinet members was gracefully led by Programme Co-ordinator Violet Rodrigues. The School Manager, Rev. Fr. Francis Crasta, distributed the badges, while the Chief Guest, Lt.Col Gracian Sequeria, presented the slashes to the student leaders. Each member was also warmly welcomed with a rose by PTA Vice President  Sachin Noronha, symbolising respect, encouragement, and a fresh beginning to their leadership journey.

The oath-taking ceremony was led by the School Principal, Rev. Fr. Jason Vijay Monis, where the student leaders pledged to perform their duties with responsibility, honesty, and respect for the school’s values. School Captain Riya Lobo and Vice Captain Nishel Saldanha along with 10 other ministers, took the oath with a strong commitment to serve the student body with honor and responsibility.

In his address, Principal Rev. Fr. Jason Vijay Monis congratulated the newly elected council members and called it a memorable day, as they were chosen by the students and entrusted with leadership. He explained the roles and duties of each council member, to be the voice of their peers and to bring concerns and ideas to the notice of teachers and the Principal. He encouraged them to take this as an opportunity to grow into strong, responsible individuals.

The School Captain, Riya Lobo, in her inspiring speech, thanked the school management and students for their trust. She promised to use the platform to ensure that every student feels valued and heard.

The Chief Guest, Lt Col Gracian Sequeria, in his powerful address, described student leaders as a bridge between the management and the students. Drawing from his experience in the defence services, he emphasised discipline, responsibility, and commitment. He spoke about the three essential skills for success—communication skills, practical skills, and writing skills and motivated students to be physically and mentally strong. He added, serving the nation is the highest honour. The defence is not just a profession, it is a proud responsibility to protect our land. He urged students to respect their teachers and parents with humility and gratitude.

In the Presidential Address, Rev. Fr. Francis Crasta, the School Manager, encouraged students to be leaders who influence, inspire, and innovate. He elaborated on the five I's of leadership—influence, inspire, initiative, innovation, and in-charge, encouraging the student leaders to take initiative and spread positivity through their actions. He also highlighted the importance of bringing newness and fresh ideas into the school environment and wished the school a vigorous and successful academic year, filled with energy and positive achievements.

Ashel Pinto of Grade 10 warmly welcomed the gathering. Chahna Poojary of Grade 10 delivered the vote of thanks. Viyola D’Souza anchored the programme.

The Investiture Ceremony was a proud moment in the school’s calendar—one that lit the spark of leadership and commitment in the hearts of the young leaders.
