Mangalore: “Cleanliness is true service to God. Let this service of Swachhanjali be a tribute from Ramakrishna Math to Mangaloreans and society. Let this service continue, Let the whole society join hands with Ramakrishna Mission in this noble service” said Dr Vinay Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University while launching Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan 2.0 and “Swachhanjali” Swacchata Hi Seva heeding to the call given by Honorable Prime Minister.
Swami Ji takamanandaji, Head of Mangalore Ramakrishna Math spoke on the occasion and said, “Let this be a befitting tribute to Mother India & Mahatma Gandhi on the eve of his birthday. Our sole intention is to create an awareness among the public regarding cleanliness and hence stress will be laid on this aspect in the Abhiyan.”
Sudhir Shetty Kannur, Hon Mayor of MCC speaking on the occasion lauded the efforts of Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru in making cleanliness drive a mass movement and sought the guidance of Mission & extended full cooperation from MCC to the Abhiyan.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP of Dakshina Kannada, Vedavyas Kamath, MLA of Mangaluru South, Pratap Simha Nayak, MLC attended the programme. Sri Premananda Shetty, EX Mayor & Anand, Commissioner of MCC and Sudhakar Kottary, DGM of Canara Bank were present on the dais.
Massive Plogging Drive, combination of jogging & picking up litter were flagged off by Nalin Kumar Kateel & Krishna Hegde, GGM – HR, MRPL. More than 800 youths & students from different institutions like Alvas, Nitte university, Sahyadri Institutions, Srinivasa College, Canara College, SDM Degree & PG Institutions and staff from MRPL, Canara Bank, Sriram Finance & Mangalore City Corporation participated in the drive.
