Mangalore: Derik's Chess School talents have been selected to participate in the School Games Federation of India (SGFI)'s National School Chess Championship.
Srujuna C Bhandary of SVS English School Vidyagiri Bantwal scored 7 points in 9 rounds in the under 17 Girls category in the State schools Championship held at Shimoga and secured 5th place to qualify for the SGFI nationals.
Shanvi S Ballal of Christ King School Karkala scored 7 points in 9 rounds in Under 14 Girls category and secured 5th place in the state School chess Championship to qualify for Nationals.
By winning Vidyabharati Nationals held at Kurukshetra.
Derik's Chess School talents Shreeka S Hegde and Pavana Prasad both from Sharada Vidyalaya are selected to represent Vidya Bharti in the SGFI nationals in under 14 girls category.
In Under 19 girls category, another Derik's Chess School talent Chaithra R Rao of Sharada Vidyalaya also won the berth for SGFI nationals by notching up victory in Vidyabharti national championship.
Derik's Chess School founder administrator Deric Pinto has congratulated the performers and has wished them all the success in the upcoming National championships.
