Mangalore: “Physical fitness and COVID pandemic are inseparable. Still, physical, mental, social and spiritual fitness can avoid the fear of the disease”, said Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor Prof. P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya.
In his inaugural address during the National Webinar on “Fitness for Protection from pandemic” organized by the Physical Education Department of the University College Mangaluru here on Friday, he said with fitness we can live a graceful life, not mere survival. Principal Dr. Uday Kumar M A quoted Swamy Vivekananda who insists on maintaining a healthy mind and sound body. Fitness is needed not only to earn our bread and butter also more strong immunity, he added.
Mangalore University Physical Education Director and Chairman Dr. Gerald Santhosh D'Souza, Kuvempu University Physical Education Director and Chairman Dr. S.M Prakash and Bangalore Centre’s SAI Senior Kho Kho and Kabaddi Coach Sathya Kumar M.K presented their views on different topics. Organising Secretary and Physical Director of the College Dr. Keshava Murthy T welcomed the guests. More than a thousand teachers, research scholars, and students participated from across the country.
