Mangalore: Konkani Samskrutika Sangha Mangalore, which has been serving the Konkani language and culture for the past 44 years, will be staging a performance of the Konkani Yakshagana "Damayanti Punah Swayamvar" on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the Kudmul Ranga Rao Town Hall in Mangalore, said the association's president Prabha Bhat.

Members of the Konkani Cultural Association, which has about 700 members, and some amateur artists will play roles in this. Shantaram Kudva, a renowned Yakshagana artist and presenter from Moodbidri, will compose, direct and play the role in the performance.

He will be felicitated by the association with the "Samskritika Yaksha Ratna" award.

President of Vishwa Konkani Kendra Mangalore, Nandagopal Shenoy will inaugurate the program, while Shraddha Subraya Pai, C. D. Kamath and former president of the sangha Ramesh Krishna Shet will participate as guests of honor.

Prabha Bhat said that the program has been provided free entry to Yakshagana lovers.

Founded in 1981 by the late G. G. Vasudeva Prabhu, the Konkani Samskrutika Sangha Mangalore has been organizing Konkani plays, Konkani music, workshops, bhajan programs, etc. for the development of Konkani language and culture for many decades.

Shantaram Kudva, Sangha Secretary Suvarni Padiyar, Treasurer Radhika Pai, Program Coordinator Krishna Kamath, Arun G Shet and others were present at the press conference.
