Mangaluru: St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, hosted Milan 2024, a celebration of cultural diversity on campus, with great fervour on 20 November 2024. The inhabitants of the college campus were welcomed with a colourful art works designed by the student contingent at the entrance and around the campus of the college. 

The Management, faculty, staff and students of SJEC gathered at 9:15 AM for a grand inauguration where the Milan 2024 Logo revealing took place, followed by welcome address by Dr. Rio D’Souza, Principal and the students began the excitement with the Flash Mob, which was followed by showcasing cultural diversity with variety dance performances and fun games for staff and students. The student dance performances and “SOLO MAN BAND” by Keer than, final year BE student further grabbed the attention of the crowd to the venue with students dancing to the beats expressing their interest to the celebration of Culture, Creativity and Surprises.

Dr Rio Dsouza explained the real essence of the cultural diversity, Milan 2024, the significance of diversity, love and compassion being the common thread that binds different communities together, the human qualities which brings us together so that diversity becomes the element to combine unique strength of individuals to bring everyone together on a single platform and celebrate this wonderful occasion. The colourful dresses celebrating the ethnic diversity of the SJEC campus, music and dances all added up to the wonderful and energetic performances of the students. The talent of SJEC students was on display and the event symbolized the rich cultural heritage and traditions. 

This was followed by a variety of events that included Prathibimba Peti, Virasat-e-raj,V yanjan Vistaar, Pushpaavarna, Jyothi Kalanjali, Mrittika Abhushan, Paakasankar, Riwaayat, Desi Dhun, Rango ka Khel, Chitranirman and Rangeetharanga scheduled for the entire day and various performances like Tiger dance, Chende and DJ in the evening.

Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director, Rev. Fr Kenneth Ryner Crasta, Assistant Director, Dr Ramananda H S, Dean Student Welfare graced the occasion. The event was coordinated by Dr Rajesh K, Associate Professor &  Jayalakshmi K P, Assistant Professor faculty convenorsalong with the rest of the members of the organizing team. Sarvika and Carol Sweedal compered the inaugural program and conducted the fun games after the inaugural function giving a wonderful start to the day.
