Vamanjoor, Mangaluru: The Fitness & Wellness Group under the Wellness & Sports Committee, in association with the SJEC Foundation, Department of Chemistry and Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, successfully organized a one-day General Health Check-up Camp on 24 July 2024at SJEC placement cell for all teaching and non-teaching staff of the college. The event was held in collaboration with Father Muller Medical College & Hospital.
The camp was supported by a dedicated team of medical professionals including Dr. Swapna P. K and Dr. Kishan from the Department of General Medicine with Dr. Akshatha and Dr.Christina from the Department of Ophthalmology, alongside hospital laboratory and nursing personnel, conducted a comprehensive health check-up for the participants.
The services provided include:
1. Eye Test: Screening for visual impairments and eye health.
2. Blood Pressure (BP) Test: Measurement of blood pressure levels.
3. Sugar Test: Screening for blood sugar levels.
4. ECG Test: Electrocardiogram tests for heart health assessment.
Patients identified with health concerns during the camp were referred to Father Muller Medical College Hospital for further evaluation and treatment at concession rates, ensuring accessible healthcare for all participants.
The General Health Check-up Camp was a resounding success, providing valuable health insights and medical care to the staff of St Joseph Engineering College. This initiative underscores the commitment of the college and its partners to the wellness and healthcare needs of its community. Through comprehensive screenings and referrals, the camp aimed to address early detection of health issues and provide necessary medical care to the attendees. Approximately 207 staff members of SJEC benefited from the camp.
Raina J Mascarenhas, Assistant Lecturer of Community Health Nursing, played a pivotal role as the Camp Coordinator, ensuring smooth organization and execution of the health check-up activities. Dr. K Jyothi, HoD, Dept.of Chemistry and Madhavi Gatty, Assistant Professor, Dept. of EEE along with hospital staff, coordinated the camp operations efficiently, ensuring that all participants received thorough medical attention.
