Mangaluru: St. Theresa’s School, Bendur, Mangaluru held their Annual Sports Meet on 14th  October, 2022 for Grade 6 to 10  in the Mangala Stadium. The Chief Guest for the Inaugural ceremony Shree Chaluvaraju B , Superintendent of Police, Lokayukta, Mangaluru , Sr Dona, the Superior of the Bethany Mother House, the School Correspondent Sr Shaila BS, Sr. Lourdes, the Principal, Sr. Caron , the Vice-Principal and  Anita Dsouza, the Physical Instructor were the other dignitaries on the dais. Invoking God’s blessings a special prayer was  recited creating a reverential atmosphere. 

The Sports Day began with the March Past, after a quick inspection by the dignitaries, the squad marched in unison to the beat of the school band . The chief guest then hoisted the school flag after which the audience sang the school anthem. The  Principal  introduced and welcomed the august gathering. The Sports Jyoti was then carried by the sports captains Riona Mondonca and Sohan Shetty along with the State and National level winners in various sports events and finally handed over to the Chief Guest.  The oath was taken and pledges were made by all the students. The Chief Guest, Shree Chaluvaraju in his message said that sports should kindle the team spirit in a very pleasant way and wished all the students to move forward to the National and International level in coming years.  

He stressed on the importance of good health and exercise in everyone so that they  lead a healthy life. He concluded by saying that parents should not only stress on good academics, but also pay attention to their child’s extra-curricular activities. After his speech, the  Chief Guest declared the Sports Meet open. The students who had shone in the field of sports in State and National level were then felicitated by the Chief Guest and the dignitaries. As a token of remembrance Sr Shaila presented a memento to the Chief Guest. The results of the March past was announced and the Red House emerged as the winners. Roshni Das proposed the vote of thanks and the program was compered by Juliet Rodrigues. The Physical Instructor's  Joseph Rodriguez, Anita Dsouza and Ashel did a tremendous job to make this Annual Day a successful one. The students from class VI to X participated with great fervour and manifested their athletic skills with an unimpeachable finesse. 

Valedictory programme

The school band led by Stick Major Adithi Chougal gave a stupendous guard of Honour to the guests. The Chief Guest Dr S Ruban, the HOD and Professor at AIMIT, St Aloysius College, Sr Shaila, the Correspondent of our school, Sr. Lourdes, the Principal and Sr Caran, the Vice Principal  were the dignitaries on the dais. The school choir led the audience into a prayer song thanking God for the success of the day’s program. The dignitaries were welcomed by Sr Caron, the Vice Principal . The Chief Guest  in his  address asked the students to never give up pursuing their dream. He gave real life examples and explained  the importance of hard work in working towards making every dream a reality. He also stressed on the importance of having discipline in their life. His inspiring talk vibed well with students and they were very interactive inspite of being tired after a very long day. The principal handed over a small memento to the chief guest as a token of respect. 

The most awaited part of the programme was the Prize distribution. The individual Championship in the Junior Category was won by Nia Jasani and  Samyak Sudesh and the Senior Category was won by Saneeha Shetty and Purav Kanara. 

Overall Championship Trophy was won by Yellow House while Green  House bagged the Runners Up Trophy. The Chief Guest and the other dignitaries present gave awarded the prizes to all the young achievers who deserved appreciation for their accomplishment in the field of sports. The programme came to an end with Vote of thanks proposed by  Prafulla Fernandes  and the programme was compered by Carol Machado.
