Mangaluru Jul 16: In a major spike which is the single-day highest ever in the district, Dakshina Kannada on Thursday July 16 recorded 238 cases and six deaths. Meanwhile, Udupi reported 109 new cases and two deaths.

As per the Mangalore district health bulletin, a total of 26,111 samples have been sent for tests so far. As many as 23,348 have turned out negative, and 2,763 are positive till date. Out of these, 1,537 cases are currently active. As many as 1,163 persons have recovered and been discharged, and 63 deaths have occurred so far including six on Thursday.

74 patients were discharged on Thursday from Wenlock as well as private hospitals.

Of the 238 who tested positive on Thursday, 23 are primary contacts, 106 have symptoms, 17 have SARI symptoms, 19 has international travel history, and contacts of 73 are being traced.
