Islamabad, Nov 05: A powerful explosion occurred in Pakistan's capital Islamabad. An explosion occurred in the basement of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the country's highest judicial institution, seriously injuring four people. All government buildings in the capital were put on high alert after the incident. According to local police and the defense department, the explosion occurred near the air conditioning gas plant in the basement of the Supreme Court. Technical personnel were carrying out repair work there. Initial investigations revealed that a fire broke out in the system due to a gas leak, which led to the explosion.

However, some eyewitnesses and initial reports said that the explosion occurred due to a gas cylinder exploding near the Supreme Court canteen. The explosion was so powerful that it damaged some parts of the court complex. Several employees suffered minor injuries. The sound of the explosion was so loud that lawyers, security personnel and nearby employees ran out of the building in panic. Security forces immediately evacuated the court premises and sealed the area.

Initial investigations suggest it was not a terrorist attack

According to an Islamabad police spokesperson, teams from the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) reached the spot immediately after the blast. Initial investigations suggest that it was not a bomb blast. But an industrial accident caused by a gas leak. However, a security search of the entire building has been conducted as a precautionary measure to avoid any potential danger. The Islamabad Deputy Commissioner said the situation is currently under control. Four injured persons have been admitted to a nearby hospital. Their condition is stable there. The cause of the explosion appears to be a technical fault. But we are examining all possibilities.

The four employees injured in the blast have been taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital. The condition of all the injured is not serious. They are receiving first aid, the hospital administration said. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court administration has postponed all hearings on Monday due to security reasons. The main gate of the court has been closed. Only investigative agencies are allowed inside.
