Mangalore: Being at Kuppalli, Kuvempu gave a humane touch to the happenings around the world through his works. His spiritual, social and ideological thoughts are still relevant. His literature should be re-read with the eyes of the present, said Mumbai University retired professor Prof. Taltaje Vasanthakumar.
On Thursday, he delivered a special lecture at the 'Aagu Nee Aniketana' program organized by Mangalore University's SVP Kannada Study Centre in the department hall on the occasion of Kuvempu's birth anniversary. Kuvempu was very much concerned about Kannada medium. He expected Prasarangas to be established in universities. Now it has become a reality.
In his inaugural speech, Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof. P. Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya opined that the intention of the humanity is promoting the human religion. Kuvempu's love for Kannada should be an example for all of us, he added. SVP Institute of Kannada Studies President Prof. Somannasaid that Kuvempu has shown that even the common man’s life has got dignity.
Prof. Abhay Kumar, Dr. Dhananjaya Kumble of Kannada Department were present on the occasion. Dr. Yashukumar welcomed the guests. Chandana KS delivered vote of thanks. Student Rashmi mastered the ceremony. As part of the programme, the students sang Kuvempu’s songs, recited poetry, and presented a universal message.
