Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the 'Kanaka Keerthana Gangothri', a singing and group dance bhajan program on Kanakadasa's Keerthanas for the community participation of educational institutions and the public under the auspices of Kanakadasa Study Chair and Kanakadasa Research Centre of Mangalore University.
In every poem of Kanakadasa, his progressive thinking with the idea of harmony stands out. Many of Kanakadasa's songs contain poetic elements as well as philosophical concepts. His ‘Haribhaktasara’ is a wonderful gift to the spiritual world. His poetry is a motivating force for theists to experience God, he added.
Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof. P. Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya presided over and said that it is the responsibility of all of us to convey Kanakadasa's philosophical thoughts to the youth. Kanakadasa Study Centre is providing an opportunity for community participation through the Kanaka gangotri programme.

Shridevi K Puttur mastered the ceremony. 'Kanaka Keerthana Gangothri' singing program of Kanakadasa's keerthanas was held at high school, UG, PG, faculty, non-teaching and public level. More than 200 singers participated.
